Theoretically fungus like candida can grow in the presence of any type of sugar or carbohydrate (and generally all elemental diets contain maltodextrin). That being said, none of the patients in our 2023 Clinical Trial developed thrush while on mBIOTA Elemental™.  If you are predisposed to oral thrush, you may consider rinsing your mouth with an oral saline rinse, as needed between servings. Ultimately, it's always best to consult your health care provider about your individual needs and diagnosis, however it would not be contraindicated to combine the elemental diet with a prescription anti-fungal if fungal overgrowth is of significant concern. This is ultimately up to your health care provider to decide whether or not to prescribe.
