Will I lose weight on the elemental diet?Updated a month ago

The elemental diet is not designed or endorsed for weight loss, as its primary purpose is to provide complete nutrition while supporting gut health for conditions like SIBO, IBD, and Crohn’s. However, some individuals may experience a modest reduction in body weight while on an exclusive elemental diet.

Recent research has shown that a two-week course of mBIOTA Elemental™  led to a small decrease in total body weight. Importantly, this weight loss primarily came from body fat and visceral fat, with an average 11.2% reduction in visceral fat area after four weeks. Lean body mass showed only a minimal decrease (about 1.3 lbs or 0.6 kg). Additionally, weight tended to stabilize after transitioning back to a regular diet.

For those concerned about unintentional weight loss, know that the elemental diet is formulated to meet daily calorie requirements.
